Canine Designs will tell you a little bit about your pet's teeth first and why it's so important to have your pet's teeth cleaned and brushed. Periodontal disease is a serious disease of the gums and supporting bones of the teeth and can lead to destruction of tissues, loss of teeth, and discomfort for your pet. It's found in 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over the age of 3, according to "Pets Need Dental Care Too". In addition to bad breath, you may notice reddened gum tissue that bleeds easily and accumulations of plaque and tartar on the teeth. As the disease progresses, affected teeth may become loose and cause your pet to have difficulty eating. Good oral health may extend your pet's life.

Teeth Cleaning
We scrape the tartar off the surface of the teeth and rinse and brush them. We do NOT go below the gum line or remove loose teeth. Infections and loose teeth will be brought to your attention, so they can be treated by your vet. Pets must be up to date on their rabies vaccine. This is a 7 year old poodle that has been getting his teeth done since he was about 8 months  old. Out of all the poodles we do, I have to say he is about the only one I've seen with all his teeth and healthy gums.  A lot of poodles his age have loose teeth or missing teeth. This is just an example of how important it is to keep your pets teeth cleaned  regularly.
